I am really happy now that we moved. I know in my first point I wasn't so sure about this move and the area. I like it here a lot. I've met 3 of my neighbors and all are really nice! We have a pool that has been awesome this summer! The girls love the pool! Caitlin loves her new school and made friends right away! Jacob is not liking it but his attitude is much better. He hasn't found any friends in our small neighborhood and that is a bummer! I think once he goes back to school in the fall he will realize that there are kids maybe in the neighborhood across from us! He starts football next month so I think that will help!
Our little town was hit by a F4 tornado on the evening of June 5, 2010. I can't even explain the feelings that I have. We were so close to where the tornado touched down. It is just heartbreaking to drive through town and see the devastation. I guess in a way I am glad to be here and be part of this awesome community that came together under the worst circumstances.

Bathroom Color
We went with green! My favorite color! I wanted to do something fun & different! We are not done in the bathroom yet but this is what we have so far:
The color looks much deeper in the picture then in real life. Ron did the trim around the door, window & around the closet doors that are two full length mirrors. He did small matching trim to go around the ceiling but he hasn't put it up yet. Right now the counter top in navy blue. I would like to change it out eventually. Not sure what I want though. All I know is that I want a white sink! This navy one shows every single spot. I feel like all I do is clean the sink!

We still need to pick out the decor. I want to do brown & Chartreuse shower curtain and accessories. I haven't found any that I am "in love" with but I really haven't looked all that hard. That stuff is always so expensive so right now we are using the old stuff.
I'm a slacker!
Ahhhhhhhhhhh it's been so long! Honestly we just haven't done anything new! We are waiting until the fall to start where we left off! There is still so much to do! We did paint the bathroom and take out all the old fixtures so I'll get some of those pictures posted. The bathroom was a deep maroon color. Here are some "in process" pictures:

It will always be the train room!
This room used to be a HUGE train room ... we got it w/ cement floors! It eventually will be a game room & part playroom for the girls. For now it is going to be Caitlin's room! We are going to re-do the downstairs/basement into a nice room for her. It is going to take time b/c we need a lot of money ... haha ... I don't think Caitlin is going to complain w/ having to wait!
15 days later ...
... and we are almost settled in! I don't know why this move was such a mess! Maybe it's because I have two little ones and it is just so hard to unpack and take care of crabby babies. :0) I think today though ... I may be able to unpack the final boxes and maybe even surprise myself and hang some pictures up! IDK though, because it is suppose to be in the 70's today & I'm looking forward to being outside today! HaHa.
Ron finished up the trim in the kitchen yesterday! He stained and cut it all himself! It looks great!
Before & After:
Ron also laid the entire kitchen floor!

^Breaking News^
Okay, okay I'm going to admit ... I'm kind of excited!! Spent a good part of the day over there cleaning the kitchen and opening a couple boxes! It was fun putting the stuff in their "new home" Ron's grandparents came over and grandma helped me clean the fridge! Yeah to that b/c it was kind of scary! The kitchen floor is about done & it looks AWESOME! I love it! The carpet has been installed and looks really good also! I didn't take pictures yesterday! I was so busy! ... Moving Day Tomorrow ... still have a sh!t ton of stuff to do so I guess we will have to do it around the mess. Nice.
I met my 1st neighbor yesterday! They were so nice. The have an 8 year old son. Also tried to give me a puppy ... haha! She was so cute! Poor thing sleeps in a box at night. :( The neighbors took her from another neighbor and they are going to bathe her and try to potty train her.
That's all for today. My main goal in life today is pack/clean up this house. I also need to squeeze in a walk b/c this spring weather we have is great! I need to get settled in so I can take the kids to the zoo! Perfect weather to "Zoo It"

I'm sooooooo tired. I feel like I have gotten nothing accomplished! :( I'm trying to pack this house, need to clean that house, need to clean this house + I have two little ones under foot. I was so stressed yesterday. I know it will all get done, but I'm tired!
Went to the house yesterday to check on the status of the carpet and floor! I really like the floor in the kitchen! It looks better in "real life" then in the pictures! I took some pictures yesterday! It's amazing how much got done.
Here is the girls room! I LOVE LOVE THE VIOLET! I was planning on doing green or pink but saw this color and just knew I wanted it! Now I will have to find matching bedding! We still need to put the molding on the bottom and I want to change out the outlets (covers) w/ something "cuter"
And our room. Still have a lot of work to do in this one! We are going to do the windows w/ the molding ~ like in the girls room & on the bottom. I'd like to change out that ugly fan, which I will do, but not a priority right now! Not sure how to explain this color??? Ron picked it out and honestly not loving it. It's kind of a pale mint green, maybe? :0)
And Jacob's room ... which was the worst room in the house! We have a lot of work on this room too, but honestly some money and a days work and it will look FAB! It was suppose to be grey w/ darker blue trim for a Dallas Cowboy themed room & well it's light blue? Yes, Ron picked out this color too ... Oh well I like the ocean color. :-) 1st up is to remove that nasty blind today! The closet door is awful so that is going to get repainted. Lots of trim work needed, around the floor and window.
Here is a before picture of the bathroom ~ I picked out a funky green MY FAVORITE color and I can't wait to see it! I found the cutest "Jimmy Buffett" decor but Ron wasn't loving it! Boo! It was pretty expensive. I'm not giving up on it yet. For now I will use my nice Sea Shell one I got for my wedding. It is fine. Maybe I can get some accessories to jazz it up? Probably isn't going to match the green though ... haha. The floor is newer so I'll leave that for now. We will probably work on the bathroom next week. I think we are going to get some sort of bathroom tile for part of the wall and around the shower.

Living Room!!! The carpet is laid down here not installed yet: It's dark, a little too dark but I still like it a lot! The carpet was completely installed last night so once I get ready I am heading over there!
I am going over to the house this morning w/ the girls. We are going to clean the kitchen and hopefully surprise Ron and have everything cleaned and put away. I am going to start unloading boxes into the bedrooms. Wish I had some help! :) We need to unload the "Train Room" b/c all of our stuff is in there. Carpet is scheduled next Tuesday to be installed in there. Yeah! It's coming together.

Happy "Spring" Forward
Sunday: Ron has left for the day. He is off to Menards to pick up the carpet and then buy the kitchen floor. He is installing that today, himself. Can't wait to see it! Not the floor we wanted but we did really like this one too. I am hoping it is still on sale! We can't remember the sale end date. It was 1/2 off! Fingers crossed it still is.
My job today, besides continue packing up our current house is that I need to go to Lowes and get another can of paint for the girls room. Ron didn't have our painters prime that room (?????????) first so one can didn't cover it. The wall was dark blue at the top and I'm not sure why he didn't have them prime it! Boo. Now one of us has to paint. I've never really painted before and it doesn't look all that fun. :-) This room is the only bedroom that was actually just refinished! We hated having to paint over it! It would have worked perfect for Jacob! The reason we need to paint it is because of the closet! The closet is full size and has a bunch of different shelves! It will work perfect for the girls many toys! The other closet is small and would have never of worked! Jacob will be okay w/ the smaller closet!
Carpet guy ... I really need to get his name ... is laying carpet tomorrow! All but the "train room" I will go over Tuesday and get everything out of the train room so he can lay it Wednesday. Right now all our stuff is piled in that room. I also need to clean. Ick. Really not looking forward to that. Oh well, it is what it is.

The fun part! Some before pictures!
We will start w/ the kitchen. The kitchen was recently remodeled so not too much work to do besides a new floor. The floor we picked out is going to cost a little over $400 but the installer said b/c of the floor type we chose it is going to cost $400 to install! Not sure if we want to spend $800 on kitchen flooring so we might go back to our 1st choice floor that is one of those stick floor tile. Blah. Not sure yet.
Love the cupboards .. so much space! We eventually will change out the appliances to either stainless steel or black! Keeping the colors for now.
"Train Room" as it is called :) It for now will be Caitlin's room until we refinish part of the basement for her. Once that is done this is going to be an extra play room or game room. It is huge!
The Living Room: Leaving the pale yellow paint for now. Nothing really to do in this room either except add the carpet! :) It is also huge!
Now this is where it gets messy!! Lots of work needed in the bedrooms!
Our soon to be room:
**** More Pic's to come later ****

Wow
Last weekend we went to the house for the 1st time since Jim & Laura moved out. It was shocking at how much work we need to do but crazy to think we are getting in all done in less then two weeks! Well, the major stuff anyway. I was pretty overwhelmed, especially since I can't really "help" that much. With a very needy 10 month old and no carpet at the time it's not like I can do much.
We went to a couple of places to look for carpet and flooring. Our funds were pretty limited and we were planning on just doing a little bit here and there. We went w/ the intention of getting living room carpet. That is the most important. However, Menards was having a super 3 day sale and we found some pretty inexpensive carpet that had padding included. We figured since those 3 rooms were not "huge traffic area's" we would be okay w/ it. So went home w/ some samples and some paint samples. The next day we stopped at Menards one more time to look again and then headed off for lunch w/ family and to stop by the house. We were planning on buying the carpet that evening. Totally surprise to us .. we had someone offer to "help" w/ the carpet (put on their Menard's credit card!) and wanted us to do the better carpet and carpet the WHOLE HOUSE! OMG! We never were planning or expecting that! So we spent another 2 hours at Menards last Sunday night and spent over $3000 on carpet for the whole house. We were both happy but wow, what a feeling to sink $3000 down just like that!
So great, we had the carpet now what?! Ron was planning on installing it himself but luckily some sense came to him and talked to 3 guys to get some installation quotes. He found one he really liked and the guy offered to do most of the padding for FREE and whatever holds the carpet down! So Ron went back to Menards to cancel padding and supplies and we got a $968 credit!!!!!!! Yippee! He doesn't have enough padding for the whole house so once the padding has been laid then we will go back and buy the remaining pad w/ our credit!
Fast forward to paint! Wow, what a mess. Can't say much more about it! We have decided on paint for most of the rooms, we are leaving the living room & kitchen for now. They were recently done and I can live w/ the colors for now. Ron spent Monday night/Tues. afternoon priming the bedrooms. It was bad. The other day he contacted a friend who is out of job right now and asked him if he would like to paint for us! So double YEAH ... we don't have to paint! Toby & his wife went over to the house and painted allllll day yesterday! I can't wait to see it! All the bedrooms are about done! We need to pick out paint for the bathroom today or tomorrow, so the painting should be done this weekend. I know the installer is installing pad this weekend. Our carpet came in early (we got a call yesterday morning!) so that will be laid the 1st of the week.

Okay, here we go ~ some history
Tried to blog about the kids ... not so great on keeping up on it, hoping this will be different. I think this may be fun. Long story short: Ron's dad bought a home and offered us to take over payments on his current house. Ron wasn't really all for it but then I may have convinced him that we should do it. I really didn't think about it. I made a life altering decision right there. Am I am happy about the decision? Honestly, not really. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess I was thinking that this was our way out of rental hell. I've never owned a house. So finally at the age of 38 I will be a home owner. I can't express what I am feeling to Ron. He doesn't understand. The house is nice. But honestly the neighborhood is not so much. I think this house is the nicest on the block. I keep thinking in the back of my head .. someday I will come back "home" and build the house I have always dreamt about. I'm sorry I am doing this to my kids. I feel awful. I don't let them know, I am trying to stay positive for them. They shouldn't have to change schools :( I love, love the area I am in. Oh well it's done right? So that is the last I will talk about it. I am now going to remain optimistic and look at the good things. Baby is screaming ... so I will update tomorrow w/ before pictures!
